The Vale mining facility in Sudbury is one of the biggest mining operations in the world. With over 4,000 employees, the 6 individual mines produce nickel, copper, cobalt, gold, silver, and platinum group metals.
A modern mine like those at Vale is almost like a city; it can’t work without power. Electrical systems are needed for various processes: drilling, lighting, ventilation, extraction equipment, transportation, emissions reduction – not to mention the computer systems that keep it all working together.
IBEW electricians constructed almost all of the power infrastructure for the mine sites, and continue to maintain and upgrade it.
